The Skin Health Institute has released Spot Diagnosis, a new podcast series for GPs and medical students.
Spot Diagnosis is hosted by Associate Professor Alvin Chong, consultant dermatologist and Director of Education at the Skin Health Institute in Melbourne.
“One in six of the initial presentations to GPs are about skin problems, yet dermatology teaching in medical schools is limited and variable. So, we have created a podcast series based on skin conditions which are commonly encountered by GPs, such as fungal infections, psoriasis and melanoma, amongst others,” A/Prof Alvin Chong said.
“Podcasts are a great way of learning dermatology, and our aim is to create an educational resource that is engaging, up-to-date and evidence based.”
“Each episode of Spot Diagnosis will be supported by other information and education resources to freely access online. Whilst these podcasts are tailored specifically for GPs and medical students, they will also be useful for nurses and pharmacists.” A/Prof Chong said.
The Skin Health Institute believes that increasing the level of dermatology education and information resources available to GPs and medical students will lead to an improvement in the skin health of our communities.
