Patient Fees

As a not-for-profit organisation, we endeavor to make your visit as convenient and affordable as we can. We are a private billing practice and our fees have been set at a fair and reasonable level.

When visiting our practice, costs may differ from time to time depending on the treatments you receive on the day. Any additional procedures may incur an extra fee, which will be discussed with you at the time of your appointment.

Please note Medicare is only applicable with a valid referral.

It is important that you are aware of any fees that you might receive for treatment at the Skin Health Institute and that you understand what you are being billed for. If you are unsure, ask your doctor or our staff.

Starting from 1 October 2023, several of our clinics have had their fees adjusted to ensure we are able to maintain a high level of care for our patients. We appreciate your understanding and are happy to address any questions you may have.

If you are having surgery, then there might be some extras for pathology or consumables such as dressings. If you have private health insurance, then your out-of-pocket expenses, if any, will be quite small.

If you have any questions or concerns about our fees, speak to the doctor or ask one of our specialist nursing staff.

Failure to attend policy

The Skin Health Institute has implemented a ‘Failure to Attend’ policy to ensure patients attend appointments as scheduled, or provide at least 2 working days’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling.

Late cancellations and no-shows may incur a $150 fee ($50 for pensioners) due within 14 days and before booking new appointments. If you’re unable to attend due to illness, a medical certificate may exempt you from the fee.

This policy helps meet rising demand for dermatology care and reduces wait times, which means we can maintain our quality of patient care.

Pathology

Some surgical procedures require specialist pathology. Please discuss what this might cost with your doctor beforehand. If you are unclear, call the Institute and one of our specialist nursing staff will advise you.
