The Skin Health Institute is a not-for-profit health organisation that delivers highly specialised clinical treatment, education and research for skin diseases, skin cancers and melanoma. Each year in Australia, skin cancers account for around 80% of cancer diagnoses, while overall skin health is critical to one’s quality of life. Early detection and ongoing treatment are key to tackling this major issue, particularly with ageing, vulnerable and rural demographics most at risk.
At the Skin Health Institute, we aim to improve skin health for all Australians, and the research we conduct shapes clinical treatment and practice around the world. We provide over 30,000 patient treatments each year, and also deliver exceptional education programs for dermatologists, registrars and healthcare workers; specialist training for visiting international medical graduates; workshops to upskill GPs and medical students; and public education programs aimed at improving skin health in the community, with a focus on chronic skin conditions, such as eczema and psoriasis.
The Institute also conducts clinical trials and research projects that are published and presented internationally. We make substantial contributions to the worldwide clinical care and management of skin diseases, skin cancer and melanoma, and are recognised globally for our contributions to medical research.
